teaching lucas gentle

Oh it's so hard chasing around an almost ten month as he terrorizes through the house after our dogs, two of which are classified elderly and worthy of doggie nursing home.  Theo cannot go down stairs anymore.  Pate cannot go up.  Theo is 17; Pate is 13.

The lesson of "Gentle" goes like this:
Lucas lunges at Theo who is resting peacefully in the floor in front of the couch.  Lucas reaches out his chubby little hand and grabs Theo's dull gray fur and pulls.  Theo barely moves but it's obvious it disturbs him.

"Lukie, gentle."  I say.  I hold his little hand and show him how to pet Theo.  I show him and say "gentle" at the same time.  This repeats twenty times.  I'm already tired.  LOL

When Lucas figures out what he's doing, sort of in my own mommy brain that my child is brilliant (ha ha), he waves his arms up and down in victory so proud of himself and precedes to slap Theo hard.

No, he didn't learn a thing.
