dwarven parody

This was something I wrote many years back that I wanted to keep. Don't laugh too hard!

DWARVEN PARODY

Along the path a dwarf doth stroll alone
he's searching for a cave to delve and hon,
Beneath a steep and woody tree I gaze
Mine eyes have not seen such a creature, nae!
His head is vast his stature squat I see
He does not seem to even notice me
His legs are bowed no grace hath he to brag
His stubborn face needs washing might I add

I am an elleth shadowed in a tree
I am for certain he doth not see me,
for I am of the Children of Valar
Awake at last upon the land of stars.
Created by the lady of the light
The fairest race immortals ever sight
And here I hide atop a lofty bough
Disgusted at the slovenly below

His beard is forked and braided tightly stuffed
Into his trousers the khazad is huffed
He's wrinkled ugly crossbow at his side
A nose immense that is round and divides
His greed doth drive his soul to dig in mines
He lent no hand to help he undermines
His orbs deep brown in want of flame within
I thank thee Varda we are not akin

Elves mighty in parts of body and mind
Endurant, beautiful, and most refined
In all the children of Iluvatar
I cannot comprehend this dwarf bizarre
There's no comparison dwarf versus elf
Not a creation of Eru himself
Of Aule crafted stunted people formed
I realize this creature is malformed

The dwarf he stands, a hand within his sack
He pulls out a smooth jewel no shine it lacks
The stones master his beady eyes admire
His lofty goal he doth seem to aspire
But stone it slips from his stubby worn hand
A curse is heard as the fair jewel lands
His voice I heard a high pitched tone indeed
Revelation occurs, the he, a she!
