our baby boy has arrived

Lucas arrived at 12:29 am on April 7, 2008 after almost 24 hours of labor. I had the most wonderful labor/birth experience where we ended up laboring naturally with no induction, etc... until about 7-8 cm and then due to being so tired with no sleep, no food, and no drink asked for an epidural. I thought it may be too late and feel that during the epidural was transitioning. After the epidural, I was dilated to 9 1/2 cm and only pushed 6 times. The doctor barely got there in time.

He came almost a month early, and his lungs weren't completely mature. He's actually in the NICU right now but should be home I bet sometime Mon-Wed. It's been an amazing experience especially considering a lot of the babies in the NICU are less than 2-3 lbs. They call what Lucas has respiratory distress syndrome (lack of surfactant at birth) or "wimpy white boy symdrome."

We're so in love with him!
