my morning jacket - evil urges

I haven't reviewed music online in awhile.  It's been too busy on this end and to be honest - not a lot of good music out there.  I will put out there first and foremost, you won't find me driving down the street listening to the radio.  I can't stand Top 40 because it's essentially the mindset of "if we play this one song enough, they'll like it and buy it."  And, the radio stations play that song over and over and over. 

Wow.  My Morning Jacket has really exceeded my expectations this time.  Who would have thought a band from Kentucky could come out with something so varied and unique?  One minute I'm rocking out to Highly Suspicious and the next I'm chillin' to Touch Me I'm Going to Scream Pt 2.  Seriously.  There's some throw back 70's feel to mix in with all the rest.  Any band that can be so diverse from one song to the next and NOT worry about losing their fanbase usually has my vote.  Very very good album.

My favorite:  Thank You Too! -- go back to the 70's when your mom was driving the station wagon to the swimming pool while you and your brother sat in the backseat, windows down, hair blowing.  I think it's the first time a song written today has taken me back to that particular time.
