dysons never lose their suction... sort of

I have been in love with the Dyson vacuum cleaner from the first moment I got it a couple of years ago. The commercials are always catchy with the trendy British accent and "it never loses its suction."

I had to make a call a couple of months ago and when I *finally* had a living person on the other end of the line, I said, "Yes... my Dyson has lost suction."

Seems that there was a design flaw in the earlier models and they are (for free) sending out complete new ones (just the suction part - which is the most important part of the vacuum).

The downside was that it took two months to receive the new part. Between being backordered and the company forgetting to complete the order, I had to call three times total.

The most important thing I can tell you about Dyson vacuums is to never ever rinse them out with water. It sort of worked out to get a new part for me because I had to google how to clean the turbine part and read to rinse out with water. What I was left with was a stinky old dog smelly vacuum smell. Hardly desirable.

Now I have a new one under warranty with no dog smell!

just stuff

It's that time of year again when I begin scouring the house from top to bottom looking for things to take to Goodwill or to pawn on ebay.  This fall's theme seems to be:  "Getting Rid of the Fake Plants."  My husband is apparently a big fan of donning most things with fake plants.  I think the only purpose of a fake plant is to collect dust.  I'd much rather have the real thing although he'd tell you some of my plants over the years have been a real pain.  Basically water can leak from a plant and drip on things.  Hubby doesn't like that too much!  

I decided it was time to move the lemon tree out of the kitchen area and onto the deck.  It's the first move.  I'm predicting Goodwill will be getting this ornamental tree this week.  One step at a time.

Lucas loves his bathtime so much.  I thought I'd share some really cool photos I took while his Nana gave him a bath.  He loves his Nana, too.  Now if only I could get him to sleep through the night.  I'm really starting to permanently look tired and sleep deprived.  It's totally worth it all, but it is amazing how different I look today than I did a year ago.  I suppose pregnancy, childbirth, and caring for an infant is definitely hard work!  I cannot believe I ever thought a stay-at-home mom has it made.  It's just as hard if not harder.  I guess a work-at-home mom like me has it the same.  The best and worst of both worlds.

goodbye wallpaper; back from florida

After a day or two, this wallpaper is now gone. I just had to take one last picture of the 80s psychedelic pattern cast in a pastel hue for memory purposes later. I'll get a picture up in a day or so of the new completed kitchen. We're already talking of replacing the countertops and tiling the backsplash. It'll make a big difference. Doesn't the pattern sort of look like some worms were dipped in different colors and allowed to squirm around?

*laugh*

Seriously though, we just got back from Orlando for a long weekend trip. I've never been to Universal Studios; it was quite fun. Here's some pictures of scenary there. Or rather scenary I thought was cool. It was also nice to escape the winter blues here and enjoy 70 and 80 degree weather. I was meant to live in a warmer climate...
