35 weeks!

It's becoming more surreal. 35 weeks! Wow. I'm really proud of myself at this point. I'm proud that there are changes already happening, according to the doctor, and that I'm predicting things are going to work out. I'm hoping so, anyway! I konw things can happen, but so far so good - no issues, no gestational diabetes, no spilling protein in the urine, no high blood pressure, no radical weight gain, and now a teeny bit of progress. It does make me feel better that there is a chance things can progress the way I want.

I just love talking to my friend, Stephanie. It's so refreshing to talk to a mother that really enjoys every moment. I don't think I have ever heard her complain of being a mother, and maybe that's a personality thing because she doesn't complain much at all anyway, but I hope to be similar in the journey hubby and I are about to embark on... parenthood! We're so green at EVERYTHING. Neither of us has changed a diaper. AWESOME! Neither have done a lot with teeny babies, and it'll be neat the first we'll deal with will be ours together.

It's now to weekly visits with the doctor since there seems to be some progression. My due date according to ovulation is really May 1st; however, according to the first ultrasound it is 4/29. I'm hoping for one week early ;) Can I put in an order for an April 22nd baby?

34 weeks

Here I am with 6 weeks left! I decided I had better get a picture before time runs out. So glad the wallpaper in the kitchen is gone.

I know... nice shoes... (just got back from the gym)

Still lack the dresser, but it's a nice start. Hubby did such a good job... we'll have to celebrate all his hard work with a grilled steak tonight :). Seriously though, it feels good to see the room becoming more nursery themed. We've ordered the name to hang above the crib. Cannot wait for that, though the name isn't set in stone. Still waiting really to say what it is... though I'm sure some won't like it and some will... I think the one we're leaning toward is nice and definitely not a name he'll hate when he's older. Jeff threw out Cameron first months ago, and I said no to that one. Gender neutral names on a man are not my favorite. I like gender neutral for a girl, though. Strange. Then there is some old talk about Dakota - that Jeff has loved that name for awhile - and I had to say no to it too. It just sounds like Dakota Fanning or reminiscent of a little redneck boy. I know that's judgmental... but it's just the impression I get from it. Personally, I like Jackson, but it's not happening for a few unmentioned reasons. And I'm super excited not to be going with the newer "surnames as first names." A lot of people do that... use a last name as a first name. I just don't like the sound of it... and I guess a lot of the last names as first names sound like an elderly man to me. Suffice it to say that naming a child is difficult!

jeremiah 29

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land.”

I really have always adored these verses.

I watched a wonderful movie this morning.  Plenty of people have told me to watch it.  I finally did months later…  “Facing the Giants,” I believe is the title.  Of course the movie opens up with the wife, who appears to be over 30, staring at an Equate home pregnancy test.  Side note:  You know that you use too many HPTs when you see it for a split second on a movie scene and KNOW the brand immediately.  It was the ole Equate, and of course it was negative.

I started crying hard immediately.  I just know the feeling.  Staring at a negative pregnancy test.  It’s more common for me than a positive for sure.

Of course the movie also discusses her husband who is a high school football coach with a terrible six year losing season.  All of the parents and even staff has lost faith in him having the ability to win a game and have a winning season.  He goes to the doctor under his wife’s prodding to find out that he is the reason they have not been able to conceive for FOUR years.  The movie doesn’t show those 6 years of bad football games and 4 years of no baby and month after month of trying to have a baby with negative pregnancy tests.
They end up focusing all of their energies on God.  It’s more of a Christian movie really.  I just remember about three lines that really spoke to me, “If we win, we’ll praise God.  If we lose, we’ll praise God.”  And from the wife, “I will love you even if I can’t have a baby…”  Oh, wait.. add one more, when she’s telling her husband about how bad she wants kids and asks him, “How can you miss someone so much that you have never met?”  (speaking of her unborn dream of children/family).  I could relate to that one, too.

Only 14 months for me this time total… Lord knows probably 4 years would have sucked my spirit dry.
And as I said before, it’s not really anymore that everything goes well, though I pray it does, it’s just that if it doesn’t, that I don’t hate God and still love Him.  I don’t want to find reason to turn from Him.  He’s really shown Himself to me in so many ways through this process.
